Marabu Matt Varnish is a UV screen printing matt varnish designed for full-area or spot coating applications. It provides an even, low-reflection matte (“anti-glare”) surface, enhances the visual appearance of prints, and allows the creation of special graphic effects.

The varnish is suitable for a wide range of plastic substrates (PVC, PC, coated polyesters, etc.); due to variations in substrates, preliminary testing is recommended. After UV curing, it forms a durable varnish layer with excellent adhesion.

Preparation:

Stir the varnish well before use.

The varnish is ready for use.

If viscosity needs to be adjusted, UVV 3 thinner (1-3%) can be added.

⚠️ Excessive amount of thinner can slow down curing and reduce surface hardness.

Press:

For screen printing and offset varnishing.

Recommended grid:

120–150 threads (for smooth, even surfaces).

Ensure even tension on the mesh to achieve a uniform matte effect.

UV curing:

Use UV lamps (80–120 W/cm).

Recommended conveyor speed: 15–25 m/min.

Final properties are achieved after 24 hours (post-curing).

After cooling, it is recommended to perform a cross-section test to check adhesion.

Properties after curing:

- Even matte surface.

- Good resistance to abrasion and scratches.

- Resistance to water, alcohol, solvents.

- Low surface sensitivity (does not leave light marks).

Usage notes:

Not recommended for use on toys or products with oral contact.

Best results are achieved when used with Marabu UV inks

Intended for professional use.

Storage and safety:

Store at 15–25 °C, in a dark place.

Shelf life (unopened package): up to 1.5 years.
